Having recommitted his life to the Lord in 1999, he embarked on using his musical talent to spread the gospel message. In 2001 he entered the Jamaica Youth for Christ deejay competition where he won at the regional, parish and national level. This paved the way for him to perform on the grand stages of ‘Gospel N Motion’ and ‘Genesis’.

In 2005 he recorded his most popular song at the time (‘Dandy Shandy’). Since then he has released four studio albums entitled Purpose, Keep Pressing On, God Is Faithful & Set Me Free.

He has also ministered on various platforms across the United States. Minister Blessed goes Non-Stop

Jamaican gospel deejay Minister Blessed says his new single is bound to keep listeners clapping, praising, and dancing 'Non-Stop'.

“The track has that old-school, dancehall vibe fused with some modern sounds and can be played in any environment,” the Guernsey-based artiste told Jamaica Observer.

“The song reflects the notion that the blessing of the Lord makes one rich, as when God is ready to bless you He does it exceeding abundantly. Hence, when we praise, we are going to praise Him non-stop, dance non-stop, lift Him up full hundred,” he continued.

Guernsey is a self-governing British dependency in the English Channel near the French coast.

Non-Stop was pre-released Friday, July 30 with a lyric video that also features scenes of Minister Blessed performing to a full house crowd at one of his latest events before migrating, which takes fans down memory lane. The song was officially released via Newlyfe Records on all digital platforms on August 10. Since the song's release the artiste also initiated the Non-stop challenge on his social media pages.

Having relocated in Guernsey in 2017, Minister Blessed (given name Matthew Blake) finds it challenging to keep up-to-date and connected with his Jamaican audience. However, he has been able to keep on the radar by making appearances at local events such as Genesis, Gospel Tenacity and his own concert series We A Come From Far with Sean Lypher. His last performance in Jamaica was at the launch of Set Me Free, his fourth studio album, in 2019.

He told the Observer that he continues to make appearances at virtual events live streamed in Jamaica, including Hope Rocks on Love 101 FM due to the pandemic. His music video Hot was also nominated in the category video of the year for the 2020 Sterling Music Gospel Awards – Jamaica.

A husband and father of two children, Minister Blessed also works full-time as a marketing manager and admits that juggling work, family and music has its challenges. However, he noted that there are also some opportunities in living overseas.

Despite living in a country not familiar with dancehall gospel, Minister Blessed shared that his songs have received good rotation on UK-based stations. By introducing his music to Guernsey, the artiste believes he is providing a platform for the wider exposure of African and Caribbean culture which, he said, is rather limited on the island.

“My music video Keep Pressing On featuring Garfield Reid was shortlisted for the UK Christian Charts. In 2020, I put the focus on launching out in Guernsey and began receiving airplay on their local radio stations,” he said.

He also made his debut performance at the inaugural staging of Afro-Caribbean Fusion in October followed by the Christmas edition in December, both of which he said were well received and supported.

Minister Blessed is next slated to perform in Guernsey during October, which is celebrated as Black History Month in the UK. But he mostly relished making an appearance on Jamaican soil in the not-so-distant future.

Minister Blessed has four studio albums namely Purpose, Keep Pressing On, God Is Faithful, and Set Me Free.

Minister Blessed goes Nonstop in the UK

    http://jamaica-star.com/article/entertainment/20211001/minister-blessed-goes-%E2%80%98non-stop%E2%80%99-uk

With more than 20 years of experience in performing reggae gospel, Minister Blessed is going non-stop with his music career in the United Kingdom.

"A few people would pass remarks about how energetic I am. Some would even wonder if I can't calm down. So this song puts things into perspective. When God blesses us, he does it exceedingly abundantly and when it's time to give Him praise, we have to do so non-stop," he said, referring to the title of his latest song.

After receiving the rhythm from Newlyfe Records, Minister Blessed, whose given name is Matthew Blake, was given a two-week deadline to have the song written and recorded. He loved the instrumental, which made for a smooth writing process. By week two, there were only two lines missing so he filled the gap in the studio.

"This is my second time working with Newlyfe Records, having first worked with them in 2020. The relationship got off to a rocky start but has become better as we now understand our likes and dislikes, so it's easier to put out top quality music," he admitted.

Since moving to England, he has remained focused on maintaining his ties with the Jamaican entertainment market. Between 2018 and 2019, he returned to home soil, performing on a number of shows and launching his fourth album, Set Me Free. By 2020, however, he began making a crossover with a debut performance in Guernsey. The musical landscape, he revealed, is quite different from his roots. Being a man of versatility means adjusting and adapting to new environments and new situations. So he did just that.

"I am now making a more concerted effort to strike that balance of appealing to listeners in different geographical territories, but still keeping that Jamaican energy and flavour," he said, initiating that change with Non-Stop. His hope is that this song resonates with all persons, and that they will be able to appreciate the message and dance to its infectious beat. He even started a 'Non-Stop Challenge' on social media to engage with his audience through movement.

Giving people the freedom to release their praise in their own unique way without fear of judgement or criticism is an important goal and he hopes the track achieves the mission.

The aim is to broaden his musical reach even further and expand the impact and relevance of gospel reggae. In addition to promoting Non-Stop, he plans on staging a live event in Guernsey called 'Non-Stop Jammin' this month.

Minister Blessed Releases Sizzling Summer Single Non-Stop

Guernsey-based Jamaican artiste Minister Blessed has released a sizzling track to take us through the last month of summer. Produced by Newlyfe Records out of Kent, the song is true to its title and will keep you clapping, praising and dancing ‘Non-Stop’

The opening line sets the scene for the song as Minister Blessed asks ‘How can I stay silent? Do you want the rocks to cry out?’ A direct reference from Luke 19:40 where Jesus addressed the Pharisees concern about people giving praise to him.

“People will see you hand clapping, foot-stomping, jumping; and they may think or ask why can’t you just keep calm or quiet? BUT when God has blessed you, saved you, delivered you, promoted you; sometimes you can’t help but to praise and thank him #NonStop”

Continuing to build on a very active season in his career, gospel artiste Minister Blessed has now released his third music video for 2015, the latest for his song entitled Glad Bag Buss.

A very fitting song for the summer, the video depicts a time of fun, laughter and fellowship as Minister Blessed is seen riding a bicycle and sharing the Gospel with a big grin on his face.

The laughter is infectious as each individual or group he comes up on ends up singing with a smile, "me glad bag buss from me meet Jesus".

"The song is very catchy, and watching the video will have you smiling from start to finish," Minister Blessed revealed.

Just over a month ago, Minister Blessed had released another music video entitled Wash All Away, which has been blazing the gospel music scene in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

When asked what was coming next, Minister Blessed admitted that he has a burning passion to produce great music and will be working tirelessly to complete his album slated for release on October 24, 2015.

He shared: "All my fans can follow me on Instagram and Twitter @ministerblessed or visit the Facebook fan page www.facebook.com/minister.blessed."

Fresh from a productive 2014 on the local scene and an early 2015 tour in the United States, Minister Blessed is back to declare War.

Normally known for his comical and witty demeanour, the gospel artiste is showing a bit more serious side as he lyrically wreaks havoc on the powers of darkness.

The song was produced by Geoff Clarke of Covenant Entertainment and the music video directed by Cornelius Grant. Since its premiere on March 30, 2015, War has been getting rave reviews as it trailblazes the gospel music scene. So far, the song has premiered on Love 101FM, Newstalk 93FM and Mega Jamz98FM.

In a release, Minister Blessed said the song was done to reassure fellow believers that victory is theirs through Christ amid the wiles of the devil. So when the demons say war - Miniter Blessed boldly declares: 'Just bring it. Coulda big like Goliath - man a David, so you forehead demon, we have a sling fi it'.

Minister Blessed, born Matthew Blake, has two studio albums to his credit and will be looking to launch his third later this year. Songs expected to be on this project include Rep Christ, God Still Loves Me and War, among others.
